Order of the Sinking Star Languages, Subtitles & Accessibility

The Steam Windows listing for Order of the Sinking Star declares 11 interface and subtitle languages, with English the only language marked for full audio as checked October 13, 2026. Chinese text and Chinese voices are separate: Gamirror's October 8 notice says Chinese voiceover was not available at launch and was expected approximately one month later. The US PS5 listing declares English voices and Basic subtitles for the main story and main characters. Use the platform-specific details below rather than assuming every region or later patch has the same audio support.

Steam Windows: interface, subtitles and full audio

The official English/US Steam language table, checked October 13, 2026. “Not marked” means the storefront does not declare full audio for that language; it is not a permanent statement about every regional release or future voice pack.

The table answers which text languages the Windows product declares. It does not establish that every spoken line has a subtitle, or measure translation quality. Chinese voiceover's separately announced status is explained below.

Console declarations vary by storefront

US PlayStation 5
The store lists English for Voice. Its Screen Languages are Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, English, French (France), German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian and Spanish. The screen-language list does not promise dubbing in each language.
US Nintendo Switch 2 digital edition
Nintendo's combined supported-language list names French, German, Italian, Spanish, Korean, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Brazilian Portuguese, Traditional Chinese and American English. It does not separate interface, subtitles and voices, and Japanese is absent from that captured US list.
Japan console editions listed by PLAYISM
PLAYISM names 11 languages, including Japanese, for its planned PS5 and Switch 2 editions. The listing does not split text from full audio or establish that those Japanese editions are already available. Do not transfer that declaration to a US purchase.

Check the regional listing for the exact edition you intend to buy. The platform guide and Japan-release reference provide the separate availability context; a language declaration is not a release-date confirmation.

Find the game's language selection in Steam

The game's official June demo FAQ documents a Steam client route: Library, then the game's Properties, then the language dropdown under General. Valve's individual-game language help also directs players through Library and Properties, although it calls the relevant section the Language tab.

  1. Open the game's Properties from your Library

In Steam Library, right-click Order of the Sinking Star and choose Properties. The official demo FAQ documents this route for the game.

  2. Choose a supported language

The game's FAQ places the language dropdown under General. Valve's generic help uses the Language tab wording. Select a language offered for the installed game rather than relying on Steam Store display-language preferences.

  3. Allow any required language download

Valve notes that supported-language files may need to download before play. Allow any required download to finish before opening the game in the chosen language.

This changes the supported game-language selection; it does not create a dub that has not been released. The sources do not document separate console subtitle switches, independent voice/text selectors or subtitle-size controls, so no menu locations for those options are asserted here.

Chinese text at launch; Chinese voiceover announced later

Gamirror Games' October 8 notice is explicitly addressed to Chinese-speaking regions. It says the Chinese voiceover, produced with Gemiuster, would not be available at launch and was expected approximately one month afterward. The same notice states that the Chinese text experience was fully localized for launch.

That estimate is not a fixed update day or proof that the voices are already included. As checked October 13, the Steam full-audio field still marks English, while the publisher notice records a future Chinese voice project. Those statements can coexist: one describes the current storefront declaration and the other a planned addition.

What Basic subtitles and the timing patch actually cover

The US PS5 accessibility listing describes Subtitles (Basic) as covering the main story and main characters only. If you depend on written dialogue, that is a material limit: the listing does not promise a transcript for every incidental voice line or sound. It also does not establish the same coverage limit for Steam or Switch 2.

On Steam, the official October 12 update notes say subtitle-to-voice timing was corrected for the remaining character voiceover, while some audio logs still needed work. The notes also describe fixes for voices continuing after changing campaigns and for overworld names rendering incorrectly after a Latin/non-Latin language change.

A timing fix is different from adding subtitle coverage. These Steam notes neither promise that every audio-log subtitle is resolved nor identify the equivalent console build. Use the PS5 coverage statement and the Steam patch's remaining audio-log limit for their respective purposes.

Keep demo and unofficial-language lists separate

The June demo FAQ named ten languages and warned that localization was still in progress. Its list omitted Italian, which appears in the full game's 11-language Steam declaration. That historical FAQ is not a current demo configuration check, and its old warning does not establish unfinished translations in the release you are playing.

A community translation or dub is also distinct from official language support. A language absent from the official list should not be presented as a built-in option on the strength of a fan modification. For the credited English performers, see the voice-actor reference; for device bindings, use the controls reference.
