Order of the Sinking Star Demo Length & Completion
The June 2026 Order of the Sinking Star demo took about four hours in Tom Marks’s IGN preview and roughly 15 hours in David Newman’s PC demo review; these are individual experiences, not an average. For completion, Steam players report a campaign counter of 75 solved puzzles in the initial demo and 105 after the June 19 expansion. The counter check below applies to those demo builds, not the October full game.

Which version of the demo did you play?
- Initial Next Fest content
- The first wave is reported as 75 counted puzzles in the June 15 Steam discussion.
- Expanded demo
- The publisher scheduled additional content for June 19, including puzzles where worlds combine. Players subsequently reported 105 in the campaign counter.
- “Around 110 levels”
- This is the publisher’s approximate description, alongside “100+” puzzles. It is not an instruction to find five more puzzles after a reported 105 count.

| Author and publication | Reported time | What the report covers |
|---|---|---|
| Tom Marks — IGN, June 25, 2026 | About 4 hours | All demo levels available in the preview he played; exact build number not stated. |
| David Newman — The Gaming Outsider, July 2, 2026 | Roughly 15 hours | 105 demo puzzles; a PC demo copy supplied for coverage. |
A single hard puzzle can account for a substantial part of a session: Newman singled out The Promise as his longest individual challenge. These reports support planning several sessions, but they cannot tell you how many hours remain from your current puzzle count. Full-game estimates belong in the length and completion scope guide.

Identify the demo phase
Use the initial-versus-expanded distinction above. A 75 count is the reported first-wave endpoint; it does not account for the later expansion.

Steam player Goblin describes pausing and choosing “switch to another campaign” to see how many puzzles have been solved. Read the existing campaign’s count; this is a check, not a reason to reset it.

Zenzen reports that the count can lag until you take a few more steps. For the expanded demo, 105 is the reported complete counted set.

If the expanded demo still shows 104
- First allow the last solved puzzle to save, then reopen the campaign list. Steam players describe a stale loader count as one possible explanation, not a diagnosis of every missing puzzle.
- The Promise counts as one puzzle in Zenzen’s completion report, even though it contains a lengthy sequence of challenges. Finishing other regions does not establish that this western puzzle is finished.
- Senlin reports missing a blue puzzle immediately below the Heroes 2: Monsters area, near its gate. His posted screenshot shows a blue star beside the Queen in the left-hand courtyard. This was an optional detour in his demo run; another player in the thread had already solved it and still showed 104, so it is one lead rather than a universal missing-puzzle diagnosis.
The southern Skipping Stones area was unavailable in the demo described by Marks and Newman. A blocked route into that excluded content is not proof that your playable demo is unfinished. The publisher’s later combined-world content, however, belongs to the expanded demo and should not be confused with the initial wave.
