Order of the Sinking Star Demo Availability, Download & Launch

On October 13, 2026, the separate Steam demo page redirected and no new install route was verified in the checked public store views. For the historical demo, Steam’s July 3 archived store page listed only a 64-bit processor and operating system for both minimum and recommended requirements; every other field was still TBD. The July 10 technical beta reported better compatibility with older GPUs and less RAM, but gave no hardware thresholds and still lacked Shader Model 6.5. Existing owners must use the demo’s own Steam Library entry only if Steam still permits launch.

The public download entry on 13 October

The original Steam demo entry currently redirects to Steam’s homepage. The full-game store page offers the paid release, with no demo download button in the retrieved purchase section. Neither page provided a working new-installation offer during this check.

Why the June end date is historical

The original festival window began on 15 June 2026, and the June extension announcement named 26 June at 10am PT as its planned end. A later official Steam announcement on 21 July still advertised the demo as available. The June date therefore cannot be used as the final removal date or as proof that every installed copy stopped working then.

If the demo is already in your Steam Library

The normal Steam route is the demo’s own Library entry. If Steam still offers a usable Play button, that is the entry to use; the paid game is a separate app. Valve explains that a deactivated demo can remain visible in a Library while download and launch are disabled. This is Steam’s general rule, not a verified diagnosis of your particular installation.

The archived July 3 demo store page lists “64-bit processor and operating system” under both Minimum and Recommended. The additional-notes field is “TBD” in both sections. It provides no CPU model, GPU, RAM, DirectX or storage number, so there is no published numeric threshold to compare with a specific PC.

The July 10 beta announcement says compatibility improved for older GPUs and systems with less RAM, but states no minimum values. It also says Shader Model 6.5 was still unsupported in that beta build. These are historical demo-build notes, not a guarantee for a later full-game build or every retained installation.

If the demo is still installed and Steam permits it, open its own Library entry and use Play. The June FAQ allowed mouse-and-keyboard or controller input. A Library tile alone does not prove that the account can still download or launch it.

What the demo contains and what carries over

The June FAQ describes more than 100 puzzles, approximately 110 levels, parts of the overworld and three starting worlds. These are announcement-scale figures, rather than a verified exact completion count for every demo build.

The official promise was that demo progress would carry into the full Steam release. It did not promise transfer to a console edition. Preserve that distinction when reading demo save information or choosing a platform.

The demo FAQ lists English plus German, French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese and Korean. It warns that those translations were unfinished. Its historical Steam Deck and GeForce NOW support statements describe the demo during that window and do not guarantee access through either service today.
